Transplant Preparation

Key Planning Tasks Before You Begin

Undergoing a stem cell transplant requires your and your caregiver’s commitment throughout each step of the process. It is important to understand that it may take a year or more for you to feel better and resume your normal activities, including returning to work. Some key requirements for stem cell transplant patients and caregivers are:

  • Scheduling and attending pre-transplant testing appointments
  • Completing the dental evaluation
  • Attending our teaching sessions
  • Making the necessary financial/insurance preparations
  • Attending follow-up appointments
  • Following our program’s nutrition, travel, social, and hygiene precautions, developed to keep you safe from infection while your immune system recovers.
