Spiritual Care
Undergoing a stem cell transplant is challenging and often demanding. For many patients, spirituality or faith provides a source of strength and comfort during this time. Your own spiritual resource can be a great help. If you do not have a spiritual resource, our chaplains are available to you and your family while you receive care at Dana-Farber or Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Chaplains offer religious and/or spiritual support 24 hours a day for you and your family. Chaplains from different faiths (including Interfaith, Buddhist, Jewish, Islamic, Roman Catholic, and Protestant) are available to meet with you before, during, and after transplant. Our chaplains can also contact community clergy of other faiths at your request.
The team respects the importance of spiritual, emotional, and ethical matters. Chaplains may offer prayer, scripture, sacraments, and worship services that can be helpful to you. Devotional materials in a variety of languages, rosaries, electrical Sabbath candles, and prayer rugs are available upon request. Chaplains can assist you in obtaining Kosher meals and observing the Sabbath and holy religious days while you are in the hospital setting.
Dana-Farber’s chapel is located on the second floor of the Yawkey Center for Cancer Care. For more information, call 617-632-3908 or visit www.dana-farber.org/spirituality.
